Thoughts on Instructional Design and Resume

I came into Instructional Design through a blend of classroom teaching and media production. It was a wonderful discovery to find a career that incorporated both instruction, technology and visual presentation. Over the years I have had the pleasure of working  with many clients from a variety of industries and learned the fine art of listening, advising and becoming a trusted partner in the development of their training. I have worked collaboratively with many talented colleagues to deliver outstanding learning solutions that include:
  • Full-length, multi-media courseware
  • Short, awareness experiences
  • Simulations
  • Quiz games
  • Offline facilitator and workshop guides
  • "Best Practices" audio programs
  • Video presentations

I like to keep current on instructional trends and follow these thought leaders:
Cathy Moore- Ideas for Lively eLearning
Cammy Bean- Learning Visions
Julie Dirksen-Usable Learning
Jay Cross- Internet Time Blog
Clark Quinn- Learnlets Blog

I know a lot about compliance and ethics training and have a very good working knowledge of the following risk areas:
  • Anti-bribery (global)
  • Code of Conduct
  • Competition
  • Conflicts of Interest
  • Careful Communications
  • Data Protection/Information Security
  • Employment Law (U.S)
  • Financial Integrity
  • Government Contracting (U.S.)
  • Healthcare Compliance (U.S. Regulatory)
  • Records Management
  • Workplace Issues (Harassment, Diversity, Respect)

I am also intrigued by the psychology of decision-making and would like to integrate that more into compliance and ethics learning experiences. Here is my book list on the subject:

Blind Spots: Why We Fail to Do What's Right and What to Do about It
by Max H. Bazerman, Ann E. Tenbrunsel

The Honest Truth About Dishonesty: How We Lie to Everyone--Especially Ourselves
by Dan Ariely

Predictably Irrational, Revised and Expanded Edition: The Hidden Forces That Shape Our Decisions
by Dan Ariely

The Science of Fear: How the Culture of Fear Manipulates Your Brain
by Daniel Gardner
